This experiment aims to connect different platforms; test security features; to showcase enhanced levels of assurance for secure transmission of verifiable credentials across geographic boundaries.

This experiment brings together researchers on both sides of the Atlantic, iRespond and SICPA, to test security features of European digital signatures and privacy-preserving biometric tools in order to showcase verifiable credentials across geographic boundaries.
The verification mechanism should be secure, seamless, preserving data-privacy, inclusive and meet different levels of assurance requirements. This is achieved with the collaboration of the iRespond team, that provides its digital identity solution which primarily relies on iris tokenized biometrics while protecting the privacy of the participants. iRespond also guarantees that the solution built during the experiment is aligned with the expected levels of privacy. This project has focused on 2 main aspects: how to authenticate using privacy-preserving biometrics systems and how we could rely on cloud wallets to manage our identity and thus supporting more inclusive SSI solutions. A video demonstration showing the inclusive verification of cross-border digital credentials can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhY6sdf9CeA
The experiment demonstrated cross-jurisdiction interoperability between two countries with different regulations. The benefits of such an approach are an improvement of user experience, improved level of assurance on authentication and the possibility to rely on certified trusted providers.
