The challenge is to develop scalable, efficient and high-impact decentralised solutions to social innovation challenges leveraging Distributed Ledger Technology (DLTs), such as the one used in blockchains.
The event is organised by the City of Turin, University of Turin and Nesta Italia and will bring together policymakers, startups, researchers and other representatives of academia, and anyone else interested in the space of blockchain and its potential.
The event will open with the launch of theĀ ā¬5m European Commission Prize: āBlockchains for social goodā. The prize has been designed by the European Commission to promote scalable, efficient and high-impact decentralized solutions to social innovation challenges leveraging the technology used in blockchain.
The presentation of the prize will be followed by the panel ‘Uncovering the potential of blockchain‘ with the participation ofĀ Andrea BraccialiĀ (Lecturer, University of Stirling),Ā Marcella AtzoriĀ (Blockchain Advisor and International Coordinator, TrustedChain) andĀ Vinay GuptaĀ (Blockchain Fellow, Digital Catapult).Ā Leonardo Camiciotti,Ā Executive Director at TOP-IX Consortium will moderate the discussion. Among others,Ā Alessandro Lombardi, Microsoft’s Digital Transformation Advisor, will also participate.
Francesca BriaĀ (Chief Technology and Digital Innovation Officer, Barcelona City Council),Ā Paola PisanoĀ (Deputy Mayor for Innovation and Smart City, City of Turin),Ā Cristina Tajani(Deputy Mayor, Municipality of Milan) andĀ Fabrizio Sestini, Senior Expert for Social Digital Innovation, DG will present the ‘Benefits of blockchain inĀ cities‘, a panel chaired byĀ Marco Zappalorto, Director, Nesta Italia.
Throughout the event, a few successfulĀ examples of blockchain applicationsĀ will be showcased by corporates, startups and universities.
The event will close with aĀ networking reception until 16:00Ā followed by aĀ pitching session about the social goods security aspectsĀ introduced by the blockchain, moderated by TOP-IX Consortium – Please note that for the latter, separate registration is requiredĀ here.
