Federated testbed for urban smart intersections

The main goal of this project is to federate NSF PAWR COSMOS testbed in New York City and Smart Santander testbed in Santander; to demonstrate and validate smart mobility and smart intersections in urban areas.

ProjectID

NGI-ATLANTIC:OC4-343

Acronym

FedIntersect

Additional Info

It will unify access to COSMOS and Smart Santander testbeds under a unified API and data model. Its modular and service-oriented approach will allow quick development, deployment, and management of the lifecycle of the experiments. Its success will be measured by providing data (raw and processed in the edge) from at least 20 devices from the US and from 100 devices in Santander. It will be providing at least 3 Machine Learning (ML) and AI services that will be running on the edge. It will engage at least 10 external researchers/innovators who will use the federated testbed and build at least one (sub) experiment each.

We will build all the necessary documentation, guidelines, and development support for the (sub) experiments. We expect to receive at least 80% satisfaction rate from the experimenters.

Enduser Relevance

Next generation enablers such as IoT, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and edge computing can help to increase the safety and efficiency of traffic intersections, thus saving lives and improving urban traffic management.
