CoBox
CoBox is an innovative suite of open hardware and software providing peer-to-peer backup for organisations and networks. Cooperatives, other SMEs and freelancers often rely on proprietary services for managing their data, forcing them to give up their data sovereignty in exchange for data resilience, contrary to their cooperative principles or business practices. CoBox comprises a human-centric distributed filesystem, designed to enhance privacy and promote data sovereignty, which is backed up using a plug and play hardware device. With CoBox, we at Magma Think & Do Tank are building entirely new technology from scratch. Extending the cutting edge DAT peer-to-peer protocol, CoBox ads new modules and capacities to the DAT community as well as to the rapidly growing decentralised ledger communities more broadly. It is a core innovation, that benefits technology businesses as well as consumers alike. CoBox brings a cooperative approach to hosting, treating data as a common good owned by citizens. With CoBox, organisations and individuals can leverage the benefits of self-hosting combined with peer-to-peer technologies to share the responsibility of maintaining data resilience.
