The Blue Planet: A Marriage of Sea and Space
Sponsored by the IEEE IoT Technical Community

The 9th IEEE World Forum on the Internet of Things (WF-IoT2023)

The 9th IEEE World Forum on Internet of Things (WF-IoT2023) seeks submissions and proposals for original technical papers and presentations that address the Internet of Things (IoT), its theoretical and technological building blocks, the applications that drive the growth and evolution of IoT, operational considerations, experimentation, experiences from deployments, and the impacts of IoT on consumers, the research community, the public sector, and commercial verticals.

The theme for WF-IoT2023 is ā€œThe Blue Planet: A Marriage of Sea and Spaceā€, encouraging the submissions of content focused on aspects of IoT that cover most of our planet and the near space environment. The World Forum will be held as a hybrid event, accepting in person and virtual presentations, and will be conducted 12 October ā€“ 27 October 2023.

Paper submissions for Peer-Reviewed Technical Papers are due 16 July 2023. All accepted Peer-Reviewed Technical Papers will be included in the proceedings (in IEEE Xplore). A complete list of topics and directions can be found on the IEEE World Forum on the Internet of Things Website.

Peer Reviewed Technical Paper Submissions
Papers should address, but are not limited to the following high-level topics:

  • Application and Use Cases
  • Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Technologies
  • Big Data Algorithms and Analysis
  • Bioengineering and IoT
  • Cloud, Fog, and Embedded Computing
  • Communication, Networking and Broadcast Technologies
  • Components, Circuits, Electronic Systems, and Signal Processing
  • Computer Storage and Data Systems
  • Cybersecurity, Security, Privacy, and Trust
  • Digital Twins in IoT Applications
  • Fields, Waves and Electromagnetics
  • Human-machine interfaces
  • Impact of IoT on the Engineering Professions and on the Society
  • IoT Technologies in the Maritime Environment
  • Power, Energy, and Industrial Applications
  • Results from Experiments, Demonstrations, Trials, and Deployments
  • Robotics and Control Systems
  • Sensors and Networked Sensor Systems
  • Space Based Communications and Remote Sensing
  • Standards and Regulation
  • Transportation, Connected Vehicles, and Multi-modal Systems
  • Systems Engineering and Operation Technologies
  • Theoretical Foundations, Design Methods, and Architectural Considerations

Special Sessions, Workshops, and Industry Forums

As part of the Technical Program, the World Forum is also seeking proposals for: (1) Special Sessions consisting of peer-reviewed papers and interactive presentations focused on research topics of importance to IoT; (2) Workshops, consisting of peer-reviewed papers, discussions, and summary results about advanced topics relevant to IoT. Workshop summary results will be edited and published as part of the WF-IoT2023 Proceedings; and (3) Industry Forums consisting of presentations and panel discussions aimed at research topics important to industrial IoT issues. The proposals are due by 26 April 2023.
Once accepted, proposers for Special Sessions and Workshops will issue an individual call for papers for selected topics.

Paper submissions for Special Sessions and Workshops are due 23 July 2023.

Vertical and Topical Tracks for Practitioners

The World Forum will include Vertical and Topical Tracks on designated topics. Leading experts will lead interactive presentations, focused on topics of importance to IoT practitioners addressing aspects of actual IoT implementations, adoptions, deployments, and operations. Most of speakers are chosen by invitations by the Vertical and Topical Track Chairs. We also encourage suggestions for topics and speakers which align with the Vertical and Topical Tracks.

Proposal for Vertical and Topical Track speakers (including self-nominations) are due 18 June 2023.

Invited speakers and participants in the Vertical and Topical Tracks may elect to submit papers, which will be peer reviewed, and if accepted will be included in the proceedings (IEEE Xplore).

Peer reviewed paper submissions accompanying Vertical and Topical Track presentations are due 23 July 2023.

Additional Parts of the of WF-IoT2023 Program
