WEBINAR-Tech talk with bunnie on IRIS: an open hardware project to verify chips
May 2 @ 11:00 – 12:00
Andrew “bunnie” Huang on silicon inspection
Thursday May 2, 2024. 11.00 – 12.00 CEST (Brussels time) / 17.00 SGT (Singapore time)
Location: Big Blue Button platform: https://vc.ngi-0.eu/rooms/ahq-y96-uhs-jka/join
Hardware hacker bunnie is working on IRIS (Infra-Red, In-Situ) inspection of silicon, a project to facilitate the non-destructive verification of silicon chips. The goal of the project is to give people a tangible reason to trust their chips. In this webinar he’ll give a short talk about the project but will leave most of the time for a Q&A as he is interested to hear what people think about IRIS.
Chip inspection often requires removing or even destroying the chip. With IRIS bunnie has developed a method using infrared light to inspect chips without having to unmount them. The aim of the project is to create a set of techniques for the hardware world that fill the analogous role of “digital signature verification” used on software packages: a ubiquitous method to establish trust in an artifact, after it has been delivered to the user.
