IEEE NETSOFT 2020

June 29, 2020 - July 3, 2020

IEEE NETSOFT 2020 TO GO VIRTUAL

As you may be aware, the World Health Organization officially declared the novel coronavirus COVID-19 a pandemic. This global health crisis is a unique challenge that has impacted many members of the IEEE family. We would like to express our concern and support for all the members of the IEEE community, our professional team, our families and all others affected by this outbreak.

Governments around the world are now issuing restrictions on travel, gatherings, and meetings in an effort to limit and slow the spread of the virus. The health and safety of the IEEE community is our first priority and IEEE is supporting these efforts.

Following the advice and guidelines from healthcare officials and local authorities,Ā IEEE NetSoft 2020 will now be held virtually on 29 June ā€“ 3 July 2020.

Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Cloud-Edge-Fog Computing are driving an unprecedented techno-economic shift in the Telecom and ICT industries. Network softwarization and programmability promise to reduce operational costs, provide better flexibility and bring new service paradigms.Ā In particular, they are enabling the deployment of 5G infrastructures, spanning from high data rate fixed-mobile services to the Internet of Things, which is expected to accelerate the digital transformation that all the industry is witnessing. As a result, new service models and new value chains will emerge, leading to novel business models and significant socio-economic impact.

Considering this important trend, the SDN Initiative that was running in 2014-2017 under the Future Directions Committee of IEEE decided to launch a new conference that was capturing the important development in the scope of softwarized networks. The International Conference on Network Softwarization, aka NetSoft was then created and had its first event in April 2015 in London, UK.

In 2020, NetSoft is organized around the themeĀ Bridging the gap between AI and Network Softwarization.
