NGI Fediversity

Open internet discourse represents the future of open collaboration and discussion, offering a federated safe space that replaces traditional social networking. The Fediverse, supported by the NGI program, is rapidly growing and approaching ten million users, with a focus on providing safeguards for marginalized groups. While many tech-savvy media outlets and public institutions have already joined, wider adoption requires dedicated support organizations.
This project aims to lay the groundwork for such organizations by providing reproducible deployment configurations, documentation, and success stories. It not only supports hosting Fediverse services and open discussion tools but also enables public organizations to showcase and gain experience in utilizing these services. The project aims to create a practical, user-friendly, and secure communication environment that incorporates various powerful components, making a significant difference compared to centralized solutions owned by Big Tech.
