“The next generation internet is ours to shape” is a hands-on networking session focusing on Europe’s drive towards the next generation internet, showing how Europeans from all walks of life can benefit and get involved.

NGI is all about you, the citizens, whether you are a high-tech start-up, SME, researcher, from civil society or an EU member state policy maker.

NGI aims to create an internet that responds to increasing public demand for a more accountable and more human-centric alternative. An inclusive internet, more supportive of small business needs, open and transparent, safe and secure, sustainable and energy-efficient.

Come along and help us session zoom into examples of NGI innovators who are shaping the internet of tomorrow.

Welcome & Introduction: NGI Values ambassadors, innovators and frontrunners

Moderator: Sara Pittonet, SpeakNGI.eu

16:00 – 16:15 #1 NGI VALUES AMBASSADORS

Three NGI innovators will pitch about how their technological trends are reshaping the internet towards a safer digital life, a better healthcare and fair new markets. Innovators will be asked to pitch their vision of the Next Generation Internet in different aspects: human, technology, market and policy.

  • HUMAN – IoT for for monitoring lifestyles. Marina Mortara, Researcher, InterIoT project
  • TECHNOLOGY – Advanced Internet architectures to the benefit of government, companies and citizens. Eduard Grasa, Fundacio i2CAT
  • MARKET:  Johannes Klinglmayr, Linz Center of Mechatronics GmbH

16:15 – 16:30 #2 EXCELLENCE

Right-hand man: Mirko Presser, NGI Move

Representatives of three Austrian initiatives will pitch their excellence: Katrin Mathmann from the Foodnetlab project; Mario Drobics from the Compass Project; and Axel Polleres from the EXPEDiTE Project will compete on a best research race. Who will excel?

Christopher Frauenberger, TU Vienna, Winner of the NGI R&E Award, will join the group and tell us why it was so extraordinary to be among the winners of the NGI Awards (and it definitely was so!)

16:30 – 16:40 #3 OPPORTUNITIES

Right-hand man: Katja Bego, Engineroom

Internet innovation runs incredibly fast, much more than any other applied research project. That’s why the European Commission has introduced a funding-within-the-funding mechanism. Andrés Sánchez Sandaza will pitch about Ledger, one of the RIAs  funded in the last NGI call, which will allocate 80% of the EU funding to financially supporting third parties.

Oliver Hoffmann, Austrian Ministry for Infrastructure, will jump in to focus on the opportunities offered by the Hosting Country

16.40 – 16:45 You will hear again from us!

Monique Calisti HUB4NGI – NGI4ALL, will wrap-up and welcome you to the next phase of the NGI initiative: get your agendas ready!
