SUMMARY:NGI workshop in Pisa
DESCRIPTION:The European Commission in collaboration with NExtIN (www.next-in.eu) and Polo Tecnologico di Navacchio (www.polotecnologico.it) organize a workshop in support of the EC Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative. \nResearchers\, start-ups\, SMEs\, social innovators and representatives of the civil society are invited to discuss with the European Commission to shape the Internet of the future. \nThe purpose of the workshop is to explore opportunities for research\, industry\, SMEs/start-ups and civil society for collaboration within the scope of the NGI initiative. Open and multidisciplinary discussions\, as the key elements of the workshop agenda\, will help the attendees to actively participate in debates prioritizing and shaping the future evolution of the NGI. \nThe workshop will be held at Polo Tecnologico di Navacchio premises on 11th of July 2017 (14:30h – 18:30h). \nThe event will be held in Italian. \n \nAbout NGI\nLast autumn the European Commission launched the Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative\, aiming for a more human-centric Internet supporting European values of openness\, cooperation across borders\, decentralisation\, inclusiveness\, transparency and protection of privacy. \nThe NGI initiative is a broad and long-term initiative\, mostly focusing on new technology areas like a better protection for private data\, new internet architectures\, decentralized data systems and new discovery and identification tools. \nMore information on the EC NGI initiative are available at: \n\nhttps://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/next-generation-internet-initiative\nhttps://ec.europa.eu/futurium/en/next-generation-internet\n\nWhy attend?\n\nTo be active part of the brainstorming about novel ideas for innovative research topics\nTo help formulating expectations from the NGI initiative (as individuals but also as representatives of a certain sector)\nTo help establish and grow the NGI ecosystem\n\nWho can attend?\nInvited attendees are Internet Researchers and Innovators\, SMEs\, Start-ups\, Internet technology providers\, Policy Makers\, Civil society representatives. \nParticipation is free but places are limited.
