SUMMARY:Webinar: Design Thinking
DESCRIPTION:Design Thinking\nWhen: 28 June 2022 from 11:00 to 12:00 CEST\nWhere: Online\nRegistration: https://meeting.zoho.eu/meeting/register?sessionId=1241414462 \nWebinar powered by NGI TETRA and NGI ATLANTIC \nWhen designing complex systems\, it is important to reduce risks as soon as possible.\nThis webinar will introduce you to a pragmatic design thinking approach that allows to formulate and test hypotheses quickly (“fail fast\, fail cheap”).\nThe proposed approach is hands-on\, validated on several high-tech cases and avoids the “fluffiness” that is sometimes associated with design thinking methods.\nWe will consider both the product/service and the business plan as prototypes that must be refined and tested to reduce risks. \n \nSPEAKER\n \nCEO at European Startup Network \nJan Bormans\, Ph.D.\, MBA\, has been active in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship for more than 20 years. Jan was strategy advisor at the IMEC nanotechnology research centre (that developed one of the first open innovation business models worldwide) and valorisation manager of the Flanders DC/Vlerick Business School knowledge centre. He has been actively involved in various start-up initiatives such as start it @KBC and startups.be since 2010. Jan has also co-founded Kunigi\, an interdisciplinary innovation agency. From 2019 on\, Jan is the CEO of the European Startup Network.  Jan’s LinkedIn profile

SUMMARY:Webinar: Visual Thinking Strategy
DESCRIPTION:Visual Thinking Strategy\nWhen: 25 January 2022 at 16:00 CET\nWhere: Online \nWebinar powered by TETRA and NGI Atlantic.eu \nThe webinar focuses on identifying the product/service Unique Selling Proposition (USP) and work on a concept extracted from it using modalities that are usually not explored (Visual Thinking Strategy). This is the best way to stretch the brain and give birth to new ideas\, free of preconceived notions\, that will be useful in business or elsewhere in life. Thinking visually and spatially helps tackle complex problems by seeing how interdependent pieces fit together. \n \nStrategies for visual learning\nIf you teach as part of a formal institution or in a business training capacity\, you can use the Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) methodology to encourage flexible thinking with the help of a single\, interesting image and three simple questions: \n\nWhat’s going on in this picture?\nWhat do you see that makes you say that?\nWhat more can we find?\n\nMuch like a brainstorming session\, the goal of a VTS discussion is to enable shared discovery\, learning\, and insight rather than to disseminate knowledge. Encouraging the contribution of individual ideas in this way has been shown to deepen the learner’s observation\, collaboration\, and communication skills in an international setting. \nREGISTER HERE!

SUMMARY:NGI at DATW
DESCRIPTION:Digital Around The World event addressing EU-US Internet collaboration\, through an NGI Think Tank\, involving major stakeholders from both sides of the Atlantic. \n\n“Future of Internet: the EU/US Next Generation of Internet Initiatives”\n20 October 2020 | 8 pm – 9 pm CET \nIn our global context\, the Next Generation Internet\, an initiative launched by the European Commission back in 2016\, will be successful only if a worldwide consensus is found\, enabling a Human-centric Internet. To that end\, collaboration between the EU and the US is essential\, both areas being strongly committed to develop the future of Internet and to shape a sustainable landscape for NGI developments. \nIndeed\, the NGI initiative should design specific actions for policy collaboration\, shared technology development and interaction between user-communities\, with other initiatives in the world where parts of the NGI infrastructure are designed and deployed; and the US are one of the main places where such activities are held. \nThink NEXUS – Think tank for the collaboration on NEXt generation internet between EU-US – is a European Commission (Horizon 2020 research program) project that aims to reinforce EU-US collaboration\, through its dedicated Think Tank\, involving major stakeholders from both sides of the Atlantic on Next Generation Internet related thematic in three focus areas: Science & Technologies; Innovation & Entrepreneurship; Policy. \nThis 1-hour session will be dedicated to further advancing EU-US talks around technologies & policies’ priorities for cooperation. \n\n“Next Generation Internet: A Visual collaboration workshop on EU-US NGI research and innovation”\n20 October 2020 | 11 pm – 12 am CET \nThe session will focus on giving the opportunity to a number of the third-party projects funded by two of the NGI RIAs\, NGIatlantic.eu (EU-US collaboration on NGI)\, NGI Pointer (Open Internet architecture renovation) and an EU-US initiative funded by NGI Explorers (EU Fellowships to the US)\, a chance to present their project ideas to the global audience of the 24 hour-long digitalarounbdtheworld.org event. \n\nDr. Mirko Presser\, Associate Professor\, Aarhus University\nJames Clarke\, EU Strategic Liaison Manager at the Telecommunications Software and Systems Group\, Waterford Institute of Technology\nSara Pittonet Gaiarin\, Senior Project manager\, Trust-IT Services & COMMpla\n\n\nFor more info\, read the programme here.
