SUMMARY:ThingsCon 2017
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nA conference about the future of hardware\, connected devices and Internet of Things\nThingsCon is Europe’s leading conference about the future of hardware\, connected devices and Internet of Things (IoT). Started in Berlin it is growing into a global community of like-minded practitioners around Internet of Things and new hardware. ThingsCon fosters the creation of a human-centric & responsible IoT. To this end it provides practitioners with an open environment for reflection & collaborative action. \nThingsCon Amsterdam started with a one day conference on 7 November 2014\, inspired by the successful format of that year’s first Berlin edition. In 2015 we grew into a conference with about 250 attendees and we felt that we needed to keep growing the Dutch community by also organising smaller focused events; the Salons. In 2016 we organised five Salons and ended the year again with the 3rd edition of the Thingscon Amsterdam conference\, with an international line-up of top notch speakers and about 25 sessions and 50 speakers on different aspects of making a meaningful impact through product and service design of connected products\, with around 330 attendees. \nThingsCon Amsterdam 2016 took place on 1 & 2 December at the Volkshotel in Amsterdam. Find a report on the talks and sessions on the reporting page. \nWe continued to organise the Salons in 2017. Next to that we organised a research trip to Shenzhen in April. \nThingscon Amsterdam is organised by Iskander Smit (Info.nl)\, Marcel Schouwenaar (The Incredible Machine) and Monique van Dusseldorp (Van Dusseldorp)\, in close corporation with the Berlin team. \n  \nMirko Ross reporting on heise online\nThingsCon Amsterdam: Für ein verantwortungsvolles Internet of Things \n  \nRob van Kranenburg – Next Generation Internet\, what is it? \n \nWatch the speech on ThingsCon Amsterdam 2017 \n\nDo not miss the NGI Meet Up @ ThingsCon on December 1st!\n \n\n \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:IoT BCN Smart City Expo: Blockchain + IoT + Next Generation Internet (NGI)
DESCRIPTION:The next IoT Barcelona meetup (http://iot.barcelona) during the Smart City Expo 2017 in Barcelona. Actually this will be a mix of Blockchain and IoT together with Smart City Expo IoT companies\, all with fresh beers by our kind sponsor Moritz (http://moritz.com) and thethings.iO (https://thethings.io) \n  \n\nNGI Meetup with Marc Pous\, Co-presenters were Josep Sanjuàs about Blockchain\, Ethereum and Bitcoin and how to apply these technologies with the Internet of Things and John Tillema speaking about the hardware development of the Things Network. Rob van Kranenburg talked about the bigger picture – #IoT\, #AI\, #Robotics and the agency of Europe\, and the new funding schemes in ICT-24. \nA discussion that addressed the current political situation in Barcelona in a logical way ensuing from notions of transparency and information flow of the Digital Transition. The audience debated that it is strange that we want analytics and real time data streams in all networks that make up Internet of Things: \n\nBAN\, Body Area Network: Wearables\nLAN\, Local Area Network\, (Smart) Home\nWAN\, Wide Area Network\, (Connected) Car\nVWAN\, Very Wide Area Network\, (Smart) City\n\nbut in the most important of decision making areas: society\, we still allow a 19th century fully analogue model of people discussing in the basis of belief\, particular personal needs\, romantic territorial notions or ideologies tuned to pre-network archetypes. \nThe pragmatic cybernetics advocated by NGI Move was seen as a powerful potential bringer of calm\, serenity and opportunities in the particular Catalunya situation\, and for the EU as a 500 million zone as a whole. \n \n#IoT #AI #Robotics #ICT-24 #NGI4EU \n\nNGI – Towards a future Internet that better responds to the expectations of the citizens!\nNGI Move\, @NGI4EU brings you Salons and Meetings all over Europe to promote\, exchange and debate the Next Generation Internet movement. \nWhat should the Next Generation Internet look like? | Join the NGI-Movement @NGI4EU

SUMMARY:An NGI Move Salon: What's next for the Internet (of Things)
DESCRIPTION:An NGI Move Salon.\nSalon Nr 1: What’s next for the Internet (of Things)\nWhere is the Internet heading? What are the strengths and the weaknesses of its present form\, and what are the likely/possible/ideal next steps and directions of its development? \nWe are delighted to bring to you Rob van Kranenburg of NGI Move\, who was one of the first people ever to use the term “the Internet of Things”\, and who has recently started to run a series of “NGI Move Salons” around Europe\, aimed at (i) rethinking the functioning and the potentials of the Internet (in terms of technology\, governance\, sustainability)\, and (ii) inspiring novel public\, as well as private services & products relying on the next generation Internet. \nThe event is organized by early-stage hardware and IoT focused startup investor SmartWare.tech\, and will feature a panel discussion among: \n\nRob van Kranenburg of NGI Move (NGI standing for “Next Generation Internet”)\nÁkos Maróy\, CEO at Aero Glass \n\nPéter Langmár\, partner at SmartWare.tech and CEO at Lab.Coop\nModerator: Barnabás Málnay\, partner at SmartWare.tech and business developer at EIT Digital.\n\n\nAbout 20 people joined the meeting. After a general intro on IoT and the speed and scope of the digital transition we focused on the model and topics of ICT 24. General agreement that cascading funds is a good model\, also general ‘worry’ that purely professional process organizations without a vision would be able to occupy the 20% spaces. Thus\, it is important\, it was noted from the Latvian and Berlin side that some granularity and reflection is necessary patched on Funding Box or other type of incubator organizations. \nAlso raised: the perceived optimism around NGI able to not only defensively (GDPR) look at privacy for example but come up with radical new models to look at trust. \nIndividual Meetings make connections to potential consortium members for „ICT-24-2018-2019: Next Generation Internet – An Open Internet Initiative” \n#privacy #trust #decentralized #NGI4EU \n \n\nNGI – Towards a future Internet that better responds to the expectations of the citizens!\nNGI Move\, @NGI4EU brings you Salons and Meetings all over Europe to promote\, exchange and debate the Next Generation Internet movement. \nWhat should the Next Generation Internet look like? | Join the NGI-Movement @NGI4EU \n\n\nSmartWare.tech is a Hungary-based investor looking to partner with exceptionally brilliant\, motivated\, and growth-oriented early-stage hardware and IoT companies\, helping them get through the most critical early stages of their development trajectories. Besides providing them with pre-seed funding in the range of 20-200k EUR\, the Accelerator supports its portfolio companies primarily in (i) building effective MVPs and prototypes\, (ii) jumpstarting customer development\, (iii) designing and sharpening business models\, and (iv) preparing for raising follow-up funding.
